If you have looked outside recently, you’ve seen that we are living in a winter wonderland! If you’re anything like me, seeing snow in town only makes me day dream of all the fresh powder dumping up in the mountains that surround us! In this months snow report, we’ll let you know where all the best powder stashes are!
GRAND TARGHEE RESORT
Grand Targhee has had a great winter, but with this weekend’s snowfall coupled with what is about to happen this week, you 
can bet your butt that Valentine’s Day weekend is going to be EPIC! They are expecting to have snow all week, with 7”+ on Wednesday, and another 6” on Thursday! Keep your eyes on their snow report and your ski gear ready to hit the slopes because you are not going to want to miss this fresh snow. They are also hosting a Valentine’s Day dinner at the lodge, so you can have a romantic dinner after a day of powder turns down the mountain!
Jackson Hole, WY
Jackson has been firing all week, the time is NOW friends! With over 30” of new snow in the past week and no sign of it 
stopping, I would plan a day trip or weekend trip to Jackson ASAP. Jackson is known for its deep powder stashes, so on a week like this you know it’s going to be good and don’t want to miss out. People fly from all around the world to ride Jackson, and we are lucky enough to have it right in our backyard. Keep up to date with their, always jam packed event calendar, Jackson has so much more to offer than just great snow. They are hosting a “kids night out” on Valentine’s Day, where your kids are able to go partake in arts and crafts, and other fun games. While the adults can enjoy a date night on the special love holiday.
Island Park Snowmobiling
There is a general pattern going on in Southeast Idaho right now, and that is, great snow!! Snowmobilers are in heaven out in Island Park right now, with rumors of some of the best snow in a long time! Keg Springs, in Island Park, although a bit of a trek, you will be rewarded with endless smiles and powder spraying in your face at every turn! However with great fun in the back country, comes great danger. This past weekend a snowmobiler was caught in an avalanche in Island Park, and 
thanks to proper gear and training, the group he was riding with was able to find and rescue him within minutes. A snowmobiler in Utah in the beginning of February was not so lucky, riding with no gear made it near impossible for his group to find him, it was a full 24 hours later when search and rescue teams were able to recover the body. It’s a humbling reminder of the dangers that are involved in these sports that we all love so much.
With all these great places to get your fix of snow so close, there is really no excuses for not getting out and earning your turns! Before you know it spring will be upon us, and then summer, and you will be wishing you took more advantage of the snow we have today, even if does seem extremely cold and miserable at times! So stop reading, call your skiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling buddies and make plans to hit the slopes!
